This images show the process of how I manufactured my first designs from computer screen to final piece for the show. The original idea was to spray paint on the artificial grass, but was unsuccessful. Ending up with choosing option B. The final designs will not be handed into submission. Only for public exhibition has it would of cost over the limit I had budgeted myself

Trevor Johnson work experience

I was emailed by a friend/graphic designer based in Manchester with a studio called 'creativelynxs'.

We set up a meeting to discuss me helping out with with window graphics to promote a exhibition of the 20year anniversary of Factory records.

After the brief meeting we walked to the site where the event will take place. Took some phones of front facer of the building, where the window graphics will be. Secondly servaid the facer for measurements.

1st thing I have to do is to draw up the layout of the window. (technical drawing)

Ideas for logo 'REBOUND'

Free lans work ( the circle lounge )

I was approached by a promotional team that handles with venues around Manchester.

They have wrote to me to descuse the possibility of myself helping them design a new logo/flyer/poster.

The event tonight with be hosting at a night club in Manchester called "The Circle Lounge" every Friday.

The night will be a student based night and should attract that niche. With various genres of music styles... Techno/house/trans etc

The night shall either be called:
1- REBOUND
2- LEVEL

The event start date shall be held on 27th of April 2012

Morning lesson plan

my aim for the day was:

• research into the art movements
• research the history football/print ads
• scan primary research into my sketch book for evidence.

• information on the specific graphic design movements i wish to choose
• research into a book on history of football and graphic design
• scanned a few images from my primary research (still more to do)

one of my action plans for the start of the academic year, was to continue my studies, because the course i am on (Graphic design & advertisement) is only 2/3 year of a B.A Degree i have to look for a course that will help me either progress onto the second year or third year.


i had to apply again through ucas system. i applied for several course that relate to one i am on currently on.


i was asked to an interview at The Manchester College. the course will continue from my two years, onto a 'TOP UP DEGREE'.


this will enable me too a full B.A degree level in Graphic design & advertisement but, also visual communications.


At the interview, we discussed what the course had to offer and how it will benefit me as a designer. then was asked several questions about my past two year and presented them with a portfolio with maximum of 15 pieces of my academic work but also my free lans work.


The interview was 20 min long and by the end they were happy to give me a place on the course. 


I  am still awaiting to hear from the other universities too find out if i have a place with there courses as well.

01.03.2012 WEEK 3 OF UNIT 9

TODAYS LESSON I HAVE BEEN CONTINUING WITH TOMORROWS PRESENTATION. THE PRESENTATION IS A QUICK SUMMARY TO HELP TUTORS AND PUPIL EXPLAIN WHAT THEY WISH TO CHALLENGE FOR THERE FINAL YEAR EXHIBITION. ALSO A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO HELP EACH OTHER WITH IDEAS.


THE PRESENTATION WILL CONSIST OF 3 IDEAS. EACH WITH A QUICK SUMMARY OF WHAT WE WANT TO DO FOR EACH IDEA. FINALY STATING WHAT MY FINAL IDEAS SHALL BE.


MY FINAL IDEAS WILL BE TO PROMOTE THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL MUSEUM THAT WILL BE EXHIBITED IN MANCHESTER'S URBIS. I AM GOING TO INTERTWINE HISTORY OF GRAPHIC DESIGN / HISTORY OF FOOTBALL WITH A SPECIFIC ART MOVEMENT STARTING FROM THE 1800-2012

today lesson broke down

first half : was an exercise for my contextual studies. we have been reading a book called 'practice of looking'. each week as a class read a section of the book and then do a questionnaire on what we have learnt. today we looked at the meanings of

• central tention in a camera generated images
• what is positivism
• what is the myth of photographic truth 
• what is the meaning empirical, information document and an expressive vehicle 
• what the difference between 'denotation and connotation'
• what is the word myth defined by Barthes
• what are ideologies and how can imagery effect ideology

afternoon session

as a class we looked at the difference between a creative CV and a formal CV. then we was given a task to see how we would design/make our own what we should put in it.

tried looking into one of my idea generations. i have looked at the immigration board to see minor information on Australia and there values

256 fallowfield

Was approached my a group of people to design a up coming night at a venue called 256 fallowfield. The theme around music festivals. The event is called 'fallowfest' raising money for the rainbow trust children's charity.

They wanted a poster and flyer to promote the night. Giving me a brief description of what they wanted. This what I and up with.

today i have been investigating into my self directed studies, i have come up with three deliverables.

these are my deliverables:

1. series of posters encouraging british citizens (purely) to immigrate to Australia.
2. promoting the winter Olympics
3. graphic design inspirations and interpretative there work to the century it was at

Just been sent an email from the director of manchester's JD stores and would like me to go down n work with there design team.

Was walking through town this afternoon and 'popped' into the john rylends museum in Manchester. On deansgate. There is variety of letter press technology and great architectural presence. Present little walk round. Must see
